The due dates for our essays were today, so Mr. Paterson focused on teaching us small details such as the title or the methods of citation. From those learned today, I thought that citing the resources in the correct way was an important role in finessing an essay because it is organized and shows that the website isn't a hoax. Since it was hard to hand create a bibliography by researching the publisher, date and other information that may differ from every source, we decided to use a website that automatically fills the essentials for a good and organized MLA8 format. I realized that it is efficient to utilize these tools because it is hard to jump into citing without remembering the order, so we were able to finish them during the class which was helpful since we had to work after class and school to edit the essay so that it fits all of Mr. Paterson's standards.
We made sure to add a title that can hook the audience. Normally, articles and research papers aren't that catchy because their titles are straightforward, therefore we wanted to create one that can sound interesting for first-timers. I thought that a catchy title would follow a similar thought process as one of a hook because reasons for writing them are basically the same for both of them. We decided to use our thesis statement as a catchphrase so that our intentions can be portrayed in a rhythmical way. We also made sure to choose the right fonts and line-spacing for all paragraphs, because as we learned in earlier classes during the first semester, certain fonts are not barrier freet o those that mare concerned with their sight. People who are dyslexic may not be able to figure out a sentence when the words are compacted into a small jumble of words with no spacing at all. Moreover, fonts with accessories for an atmospheric effect may confuse readers and therefore won't be able to understand the essay despite lowering the difficulty. In order to solve this problem, we changed the font into the default one which does not include any additional features and double-checked it when placing it into Canva because they were 2 different websites, and we thought that it may affect the font as well. Overall, we were able to finish it by tomorrow morning.
